![]() Her scenes certainly felt tense and made you feel like you were actually running for your life. While I hated my first encounter with Marta, I found her pretty scary throughout most of the encounters you have with her. *SPOILERS* And here's some of the stuff in specific I did and didn't like. I also liked the setting, even if it was cliche and unoriginal, I think it set the mood quite well. Numerous enough to feel like there was some kind of real variety there. It was certainly tense, and the story was interesting, even if the ending needed more to it (I'll touch more on that in the spoilers). It certainly was scary when it tried to be. I also felt like the game relied too much on using the night vision mode on the camera and that the sound detector was kind of worthless in most of the game. The framerates would also randomly drop (and some play throughs it wouldn't, even in the exact same spot) which also gave me some difficulty playing. I often found myself getting stuck on a big pile of nothing and being killed in the process. Sometimes the controls felt off and I also found myself dying a lot because of the game and not my own inability to play. I love a good challenge in a game, but I want to feel more terrified while playing a horror game than I want to be challenged, and it seems like the game tried so hard to be the latter it sacrificed horror elements at times in the process. The game is certainly scary, at parts, but the trial-and-error gameplay style switches it from "scary" to "frustratingly annoying" real quick, and a few gameplay tweaks could have changed this. I have to say, where it it succeeds it excels and where it fails it fails badly. *SPOILERS AT THE END* I will give a warning before I start spoiling things. And once your ego has merged with another ego, your narrative will necessarily take on the narrative created by that ego. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You've handed over the real thing, so what comes back is a shadow. But once you've consigned your ego to someone else, where on earth do you go from there? At this point you receive a new narrative from the person to whom you have entrusted your ego. ![]() Yet without a proper ego nobody can create a personal narrative, any more than you can drive a car without an engine, or cast a shadow without a real physical object. It is through such multilayering of roles in our stories that we heal the loneliness of being an isolated individual in the world. ![]() "Storyteller" and at the same time "character". You are simultaneously subject and object. Just as surely as you breathe, you go on ceaselessly dreaming your story. It is a dream you keep having, whether you realize it or not. Now a narrative is a story, not a logic, nor ethics, nor philosophy. Such stories go beyond the limited rational system with which you surround yourself they are crucial keys to sharing time-experience with others. Humans, however, can't live very long without some sense of a continuing story. Or long lost friends they haven’t seen in years and thinking about them maybe never finding out about their death. ![]() Like lots of people think about their family and how their going to deal with their death or whatever is happening to them. Now I understand that both of these women are main plot points in the game and it makes sense that he’d focus on them but like there are a lot of other things people also think about in these situations. I’d have liked hearing more about other aspects of his life than just his wife and one past trauma. I’m probably being nit picky but whatever. Parents, Siblings, grandparents, cousins, aunts/uncles? Lol no. It’s not like there are most likely a million other people you’d be thinking about to in this situation. The complaint about the overuse of Lynn related lines has now double because they have Jessica now! Let’s only ever talk about these two women who are dead and currently kidnapped. His lines didn’t get better! I still haven’t finished though so again we still have hope and I’m purposely not watching anyone play the game past where I’m at so I don’t get spoilers.
